Impromptu Trip To Sabang

One morning I woke up feeling so tired of the life in the metro. On an impulse, I decided to go to the port in Batangas and catch the next boat out. I ended up in Sabang, a village in Oriental Mindoro famous for its beautiful dive sites and wild night life. This is the view from the villa which I rented for P800! ;)

Chicken Pinikpikan, Anyone?

This chicken greeted us upon finally arriving in Sagada. It ended up to be a very tasty local dish called "pinikpikan." It's very similar to tinola, only, it had a smoky taste to it. Some groups are opposing to the manner this dish is being prepared because it requires beating up the chicken. Poor little bird.

Toilet Humor #1

Need I say more? Do the Math if you wish to do both. Haha! ;) Photo taken at a "pay restroom" somewhere in La Union. :)

Valentino Resort & Spa

We discovered a very nice mountain resort & spa in San Jose, Batangas. The resort's shades of green and blue and its cool ambiance brought about by the picturesque Mt. Maculot in nearby Cuenca make it a perfect family holiday destination. It helps when you're friends with the receptionist or the caretaker, you get big discounts. And they waive the corkage fees. ;-)

Summer, I Miss You Already

Like many, summer's my favorite part of the year. It's when the skies and the seas are at their most vibrant. Last summer was a tad bit too hot to bare but I enjoyed it nevertheless. Proof was a happy beach ride with the family in Laiya, Batangas. Summer, come back pretty soon will you please?

That Mt. Gulugod Baboy Sunset

Pardon my admiration for this photo but it's so beautiful I could stare at it forever. This was taken at the summit of Mt. Gulugod Baboy in Anilao, Batangas. This picture somehow takes my worries away and it reminds me to keep believing that better things are yet to come because the world we live in is nothing less than awesome. :)

Cliff Diving In Siquijor

My friends and I were in Dumaguete City hoping to catch the next ferry going to Tagbilaran. Unfortunately, the trips going to the capital city of Bohol were cancelled temporarily and most likely there won't be any trips until the next few days. We couldn't afford to wait in uncertainty since we had to catch our flight back to Manila from Tagbilaran in two days. The only option left for us was to go to nearby Siquijor in the morning and from there catch the ship leaving for Tagbilaran 11pm of the same day. This is how we got ourselves into the very laid-back Siquijor. And while there, we went church-hopping, food-tripping, cam-whoring, and the most exciting of it all -- cliff-diving!

Craving For Lechon Cebu

Lechon Cebu is sinful, I know, but what the heck, I'll never miss this for this for anything in the world. You know what, I could be vegetarian someday except for Lechon Cebu. ;)

Surfing 101 With Luke Landrigan

Does the name Luke Landrigan ring a bell? Yes, he's the semi-celebrity who recently starred in a corned beef commercial. My friends and I had our surfing lessons at his surf school in San Juan, La Union late last year. He was kind enough to pose for a picture with us -- of course, displaying his well-chiseled abs.

Van Gogh Is Bipolar

My food buddy Debbie & I found ourselves at the porch of a home in a Quezon City subdivision one Tuesday night after work. Coming from Makati and traveling an entire hour to reach this hole-in-the-wall called Van Gogh Is Bipolar, all we ever wanted was to attack the first edible thing that we would see inside. But we totally forgot about our hunger when we entered Jetro's house. Read more about VGIB here.

Mt. Timbak (2,717+ MASL)

Nope, this isn't a scene from The Blair Witch Project... This is Kabayan, Benguet's Mt. Timbak. With an elevation of 2,717 meters above sea level, this is the third highest peak in Luzon next only to Mt. Tabayok (2,842 masl) and Mt. Pulag (2,922 masl). My brief visit here was filled with so many nice things captured by my camera -- wild flowers, fog-covered pine trees, fire mummies, hanging bridges, cold streams, mountain dews, etc. The thin air and the brain freeze brought about by the low temperature didn't stop me and my friends from conquering another beautiful mountain.
